Wedding at Waterfront Banquets

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

I had a great wedding yesterday at Waterfront Banquets.  You may also know it as Pullman’s or Trolley Square.  It is a smaller venue with great food and it overlooks the river.  We did go outside yesterday for a few photos.  My couple are from Arizona so they are not quite used to the cooler weather anymore, but they were troopers with it.  I think we all got a little spoiled with the exceptionally warm weather we had earlier in the week.  Here are some photos from the day, enjoy.

First Wedding for ‘10

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

Saturday was my first wedding for the year ‘10.  Some how “10 just doesn’t roll of the tongue like ‘09 or ‘08 or ‘98 or anything.  I think this is going to take a bit to get used to.  Luckily that doesn’t affect my weddings.  I had an absolute blast with Stephanie and Ryan this weekend.  I can’t tell you the last time I have seen so much energy at a wedding.  All day was non stop.  We had a running theme of Super Heroes for the day.  This is the start to a great wedding season.  Enjoy the photos

Winter Weddings

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Here is a photo from a few years ago I did at the Red Mill in Waupaca.  I was recently asked if I had any photos from past winter weddings.  I did and created a gallery for the couple to see.  You can view the gallery here.

Winter scene from Red Mill, Waupaca

Winter weddings are not that common here in Wisconsin, but in reality they are not that much different than summer weddings.  It is just colder, there’s snow, and it gets darker earlier.  You can “brave the elements”  and go outside for photos or stay inside.  Most couples prefer the inside option.  The couple in the photo above did not.  Their license plate said “LUV SNOW” so I knew where photos were going to be.   The chapel at the Red Mill also has no heat and it was about 18 degrees that day.  I wore my finest wedding Carhartt’s and Sorel’s.

So what do you do If you are staying inside?   You look for cool backgrounds to use.  It also may mean you use a few extra lights to help the photo.  In the photo below, I had the couple go up 4 floors and I put a light on the same floor as them off to their left.  This gave the photo some dimension.  I also used a light by the camera to help fill in some of the shadows.

So if you are thinking of a winter wedding don’t be afraid, there are always options for great photos.

August 22nd Wedding

Here are few photos from Saturday’s wedding.  It was a perfect day, beautiful weather and a fabulous couple.  The service was in a small town nearby and the reception at the Grand Meridian in Appleton.

Wedding at Whistling Straits

Sunday, August 23rd, 2009

A few weeks ago I did a wedding at Whistling Straits golf course.  It is absolutely breath taking place for a wedding.  The weather was perfect and I was  working with a great couple.  I finally have some images ready to post.  It has been hectic for me the past few weeks, but it is that time of year.

I love to capture people smiling and laughing,  the real person comes out and it is always wonderful.  The groom was so easy for this, his smile and laugh were contagious, you can not help but smile as well.

They had the band Nightlife for the evening and they were out of this world.  If you are looking for a band for your wedding check them out.  They sounded great.

Hot & Humid

Sunday, August 9th, 2009

Yes I know it has been a while since I have posted.  My bad.  I will try to get better, but let’s not hold me to it.

I had a outdoor wedding today, Sunday, and it was unbelievably hot and humid.  Somewhere around 90 with humidity a little higher I think.  Any way I had a great couple and we had a good time.  Here is one of my favorite photos of the day.  I will have more to show in a little bit

On other news I just updated my blog software so there may be a few little glitches.  the only one I noticed is on older posts there is an A with a funny symbol above it after each sentence.  Looks like I could change it but I will leave it for now.

Game 2 of Saturday’s double header

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Here is a sampling of photos from my second wedding on Saturday.  We were at the beautiful North Shore Country Club.  It was to be an outside wedding, but unfortunately we had a light rain.  I was still able to get a few outside photos with the couple under some thick trees that were acting as umbrellas.  Enjoy

Some great candids.

A few casual portraits of the bride and groom.

June 6th double header

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009

Saturday I had a double header. . . 2 weddings in one day.  This is something I usually don’t do, but the timing of both weddings made it possible.  The first wedding was of one my co workers at Image Studios, Shane Van Boxtel.  He is an amazing photographer.  Here is a link to a his website. The wedding was short and we lucked out and missed the rain for the service.  Here are a few pictures from the day.

Let’s just say they both are a little animated.

It just started to sprinkle outside when we were finishing up.  The umbrella makes for a great prop and for dry hair.

Instead of the traditional wedding cake they had cupcakes.  They were from Hilltop Bakery in Kaukauna.  They were fabulous.

I need a brief intermission between games and I will post photos from the second wedding a little later.

1st wedding of the year

Sunday, April 26th, 2009

And what a beautiful day it was.  Friday started off a little rainy, but the sun came through.  The first wedding of the year is also a great reminder for me to start exercising more.  Let’s just say I have forgotten about some muscles that I have.

I had a great time photographing this couple.  Their wedding was at the Medina Wedding Chapel.  I love shooting here because the owners keep it in great shape and there is beautiful light that comes in to the chapel.  If you are looking for a small place for your wedding it is well worth looking into.

I always like to get a photo of the rings before the service.  I tell the bestman that this is proof that he at least had the rings at one point in time.

After we left the chapel, we went over to Lawrence Chapel for photos and then a few downtown.  I have been going downtown more for a little more of a big city feel.  Sometimes it is nice to have options.

It was then on to the reception for cake and dancing.  I am not sure but I think the two of them really liked cake. . .

. . . or maybe it’s the frosting!

Something New

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

I have added some great new products to my line up.  I am working on making samples of these to show when I meet people.  Here is one of my new products.  I call it a 30 inch Wall Story Panel.  If you have to guess it is 30 inches wide.  There are 5 images of your choosing, color or b+w.  The print is mounted and sprayed with a protective finish.  It’s a great way to display a few of your favorite images.

These images are from a wedding I did in Milwaukee.  After the service we went to the Milwaukee Art Museum and then to Villa Terrace for some fabulous locations
