Waiting for a flight

I love the concept of flying, but don’t really care for it in practice. I am one of the lucky ones who can get air sick. When I was younger it was much worse. No, I never needed the bag but it was close once or twice. Nowadays it is not as bad, Dramamine helps but it puts me in a funk. I am flying into the Detroit area this week to photograph some malls for Image Studios. For those that don’t know, this is where I work during the day. So. I fly into Detroit and now I wait for a short flight to Lansing. At this point I am thinking I should have drove. Oh well. I am thankful for a little over 2 hour layover. Lets me come back to normal, but 2 hours is a long time. With all his time I explored the airport. Here are a few shots from this time

Appleton Engagement Photos

Here are a few engagement photos from last weekend. They loved the outdoors and wanted to do a little something with the colors. We were at a few places but ended up at Peabody park in Appleton. I love going to this park for it’s many areas to shoot. Many years ago with the help of my mentor this is where I learned to “see” light. It has been a while since I have been here and it needs to get back on my radar.

Wedding in Medina

Had a great wedding last weekend at the Medina Wedding Chapel. Weather was perfect and I had a fun couple to work with, what I would call a win-win situation. We stopped for photos down in the flats before going to the Grand Meridian for dinner.

Wedding in Suamico

I had a great wedding this past weekend in Suamico. We had a blast the entire day. We made a couple of stops along the way and ended up at Black Forest Dining & Spirits in Green Bay. A walk down town

The other day I went with my daughter for a walk in downtown Appleton. We went just to take pictures and to see what we could see. No real plans, no real purpose, just fun taking photos. If it was anything it was an exercise in creativity. I decided to bring just 1 lens. Not just any lens, a lensbaby. It is hard to describe a lensbaby to non photo people. It was made to do a style of photography. In a nutshell it is photography with cameras that have really bad lenses or toy cameras with really bad lenses. With digital photography this is hard to do. Nobody makes really bad lenses for slr cameras. So what is a digital photographer to do?? Lensbaby. It has been slowly refined over the years but I have an earlier model. Focus is adjusted by pushing in or pulling out the lens, and you can bend it as well. It is just a fun lens to play with.

It is that time of year again. The summer before Senior year of High School. Hannah goes to Little Chute High School and is the last child and 3rd daughter of my best friend from High School. I photographed his other 2 daughters and if you search my blog you will find them here. Just like her 2 sisters we had a great time, also like her sisters it was extremely hot outside. It must be a family thing. Hannah held up great, I on the other hand, lets just say needed a shower when I was done.

I know it has been awhile since I have made a post. Well I have been busy and it is easy to get out of the habit of doing this. I have been traveling a lot lately for a project with Image Studios and there will be a lot more coming. For those of you who do not know, I am the studio manager and photographer for Image as well as this amazing wedding photographer. We leave around 6:30am and get back around 6:30pm. In the winter that means dark to dark travel, but now it is getting later in the season and we are starting to get some light. Yeah!!! We were coming home on Friday and there was this amazing sunset that I have to share with you.
