Grilling

Sunday, April 27th, 2008

Today turned out to be not half bad. It was a little on the cool side but the sun was out so overall a beautiful day. A day perfect for grilling! Now it is not that often I cook steak, but today was one of those days. I try to eat pretty healthy but every now and then a big ol’ hunk of meat is what you need. Now my wife thought the same thing and it is even more rare for her to want steak, soooo off to the butcher. T bones were on sale and you know you can’t pass up a sale. Here is a shot of my slab.

Now for all of you non meat eaters I also made corn on the grill, which was fabulous.

I did use a dry rub on the steak that was great.  I used a tablespoon of kosher salt, a tablespoon of fresh ground black pepper, a tablespoon of paprika, and 2 teaspoons of garlic powder.  Mix well and press into the meat on both sides.  Let sit out for about an hour which is long enough to get the grill ready.  Yes I am a charcoal guy, more on that another time.  Cooked for about 6 minutes on each side, direct heat and yummmmm!

Being new to blogging, I need to test how to add photos. Here is a great candid from last summer. It was taken at Fratello’s along the river in Appleton. I love this place for getting great photos.

Spring time

What a great weekend! The temp is in the 60’s, I got to play frisbee golf with my daughter, and I made burgers and brats on the grill. What more does a guy need.
