The post that should have happened days ago

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

I wanted to write this post on Monday and here it is Thursday already.  Well needless to say I have been busy.  During the day at Image I have been busy making some specialized websites.  I created three websites for some of our amazing photographers.  Jeff Lendrum, Shane Van Boxtel, and Michael Leschisin.  I will be working on a few more sites as well. The other big project we are working on is we are having every employee create a blog.  It started as kind of an experiment and it is turning into a really cool thing.  For example we have a stylist who is into cooking and does a lot of food styling herself.  She is starting to add recipies and some other fun things.  You can see Karla’s blog here.  In a bit I will post everyones blog.  I may even make a drop down menu for it.  The other thing that has been keeping me busy at night is Ebay.  I have been selling a lot of old gear that I have laying around, part of my decrapification at home.   For those that Ebay, you know sometimes you get questions about what you are selling.  I received a question from a gentleman in France needing a copy of the instructions not what I was selling.  He offered to pay me for them but, I said no.  Instead, I asked for him to send me a print.  I need some things on my wall in my office.  But all of this has me thinking about web and how it is such an amazing thing.  Ten years ago I never would have imagined, I would be having a conversation with anyone half way around the world, let alone receiving a photo from them.  I will probably comment more on this in later posts.

I have a parting shot I wanted to share.  This is a panorama I created when I was done in South Carolina for my Stepfathers funneral.  They have these great, fine establishments called “Waffle House”  The photo is of our waitress “Tippy” who was the sweetest woman.  This shot was made up of about 8 photos put together. I used a Canon G7 for those interested.  It is kind of like a “Where’s Waldo”  See how many “Tippys” you can find.  If you click on the photo it will take you to Waffle House’s website.  There are none in Wisconsin, if we petition maybe they will come this way.

If you would like to see a larger version of this, let me know.  I have it in my office and while we are at it we can talk about your wedding as well.

Happy Sunday the 4th

Sunday, January 4th, 2009

Hey all, just a few notes.  I have been toying with doing a new website in addition to this blog.  This isn’t what I really wanted.  What I want is a blog-site or site-blog all rolled into one.  So, I have been starting to do just that.  So for the next little bit every time you come to this site it might be a little different.  I have already made some changes and I am getting close.  The tab bar below my header image is going to be my  main concern.  I want that to work a certain way, and I am not sure if I can get it do what I want.

That’s all for now, and enjoy your day.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to all my readers!  I hope everyone enjoyed there new years eve and are not suffering to bad today.

I was finishing up some year end things and going through the computer to do a little cleaning and I came across this photo I did from the first wedding I shot some digital files on.

This photo was shot with a Nikon D1x for all you photo buffs out there.  It was 5 megapixels and wow was that a huge file.  Even though it was a smaller file buy todays standards they did print up realy nice.  I remember making a 24×36 print for a display and it looked great.
